Beilschmiedia tawa, tawa is a widespread tree throughout forests in Hawke’s Bay, giving a golden hue to the landscape. It is a large tree with elegant way edges to its leaves, and its branches are a bit wriggly too. Tawa has fruit like olives which are an important food source for kereru. Plant with protection from sun and wind.
